Welcome

Hi, my name is Doug Phillips.  I am a professional portrait & wedding photographer located in a little slice of heaven called Delmarva, specifically the Ocean City and Salisbury, MD areas.  I tend to specialize in landscape & portrait photography, but I love anything with good light!  Beach family portraits...Maternity or baby portraits... Engagement sessions...Authentic lifestyle imagery!

The last wedding of the year for me was, by far, one of the most memorable.  Katie and Jason were married at the Ceresville Mansion in Frederick, MD...which seemed to be ground zero for one heck of a blizzard.  At the end of the night, I had close to a foot of snow on my car.  Unfortunately, this wicked weather did keep some guests away, but there was no shortage of emotion, celebration, or tears of joy.  I feel so privileged that Katie and Jason chose me to document this unforgettable day for them.  Congrats guys, and Merry Christmas.

Your photos never fail to impress. Can't wait until I'm one of the brides in your pics! I love the one of the dancing bride with her garter peeking out ever so slightly. You've got an eye for detail! And the snow... oh the snow. Who knew a blizzard could be so romantic.

The latest family portrait that I was honored to do was on a balmy (slight hint of sarcasm) Saturday morning at Pemberton Park in Salisbury.  My subjects included Rob, his wife Christina, and their beautiful daughters Kayleigh & Riley.  I have known Rob since high school, and it is quite surreal to see him as a daddy. It fits him well. Rob's sister, Tracie, and her hubby Rich, tagged along as well on this frigid family photo shoot.  The girls had other things on their minds, like promises of seeing Santa and eating donuts later, so we had to do our best to keep their attention and to keep them warm!  That being said, I got some great images, and I can't wait to do this again when it's a bit warmer!

I recently did an engagement session with Jon & Lindsey, who will be getting married in 2010.  Our locations included the beach & boardwalk in Ocean City, and later we strolled the sand at Assateague.  Jon & Lindsey love to gamble, so I dragged them into an arcade on the boardwalk to see how they'd do with video poker.  Even though they were faking it for the sake of my camera, it was funny to see their faces light up with excitement and determination!  The day was a bit frigid, but we had a blast together getting these images.  Thank you, Jon & Lindsey, for your patience and willingness to try my crazy ideas!

I was recently in Oklahoma over the Thanksgiving holiday, and I had the great pleasure of photographing this dynamic duo: Tiffany and her hysterical daughter Nevaeh.  It was somewhat chilly on this day (around 40 degrees) so it was a challenge to keep my hands warm and to keep Nevaeh's nose from running too much!  This mother and daughter have an especially close bond, and I think that came through in these images.

The latest wedding that I was lucky enough to shoot was in Greenbackville, VA...which is just an oyster shell's throw across the MD/VA border.  Allison & Thomas had an exceptionally beautiful candle lit ceremony at the Union United Methodist Church, followed by a memorable reception at the Captains Cove Golf & Yacht Club...which has incredible views over the Chincoteague Bay.  Towards the end of the evening, we ventured out for some pics on a very special piece of history...an antique fire engine owned by Thomas' family.  I had a great time with those Greenbackers!  Congrats Allison & Thomas!

Wow, Doug... you always have a way of capturing the mood and emotion of the day. I love the use of grain in the black & white images, the beautiful ambient light in the church during the candlelight ceremony, and the expression on the bridesmaid's face as she was about to catch the bouquet.... awesome, as always! You definitely stay true to your style, and I love it!
