Welcome

Hi, my name is Doug Phillips.  I am a professional portrait & wedding photographer located in a little slice of heaven called Delmarva, specifically the Ocean City and Salisbury, MD areas.  I tend to specialize in landscape & portrait photography, but I love anything with good light!  Beach family portraits...Maternity or baby portraits... Engagement sessions...Authentic lifestyle imagery!

Recently, I did a family photo session at Pemberton Park in Salisbury with the Shirks: DJ, Wendy, and their precious little Maddie.  It took some time for Maddie to warm up to me, but when she did she was ready to go!!  So much so that she took a little tumble on a trail (probably the wettest one I could have picked to walk on) and her knees got a little muddy.  She didn't seem to care, so neither did we.  DJ later found some strange looking seed pods hanging from a tree that he called "Monkey Balls". I don't think that's the proper species identification, but it stuck. For the rest of the day, they were Maddie's new favorite toy.  Later when I was taking a few quick shots of DJ & Wendy, Maddie was playing with my backup camera and she got an incredible shot of her adoring parents! A perfect perspective from Maddie's world.

Karen & David recently tied the knot at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club in Berlin, MD.  The ceremony was originally supposed to be outdoors, but Mother Nature had other plans!  That being said, they still had a gorgeous, intimate wedding inside the Yacht Club, followed by a night of dancing and laughs.  Glad I could be a part of the first official night of Mr. & Mrs. Hardy! Congrats!

I recently had the incredible pleasure of photographing a Philadelphia family in and around their neighborhood of Center City.  Just a short walk to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, this area is just saturated with history and beauty.  Jaydon and his parents were my tour guides as they led me through a typical day of their urban life.  He may be a city boy, but this kid knows his tractors and trucks, and he loves to touch all of them.  Jaydon even did his best impression of Rocky pumping his fists at the top of the steps.  At Old City Coffee, Jay indulged in a cup of milk (he likes to think it's coffee) followed by a stroll down Elfreth's Alley.  Not sure which was brighter that day....the fall foliage or Jaydon's eyes.  Such a loving family in the City of Brotherly Love.

Keegan is a true Rockstar.  It says so right on his socks!  Recently, I had a fun (and chilly!) session with Keegan and his loving parents on the banks of the Nanticoke River.  Sometimes I ask kids to do silly things so that they can be comfortable with me.  This time it backfired on me.  Keegan found a colony of snails on a jetty and was showing them to me, so I asked him what they taste like, expecting a smile from him. Instead, he licked the bottom of a snail. Eww. Unfortunately, I didn't get a shot of that because I was laughing so hard.  Lesson learned.  Great kid.  Awesome parents.  Incredible sunset.

I recently traveled north to document this absolutely precious family.  The perfect Fall foliage was the inspiration behind quite a few of these images...but it was hard to get a bad image with these two adorable sisters.  I couldn't resist getting into the huge pile of leaves myself!  This session was full of smiles and the smells of Autumn...does it get any better?

Doug - Simply some of your BEST work yet. I wish we had leaves like that in Florida :) I love the first one, the little girl swinging with her hair blowing and the one of the sweet little redhead's forehead and eyes while she is on the swing! Love them all though!

These portraits are excellent. They have a very personal feel; you captured the sisters' playfulness beautifully. The "Happy Family" personified.
