I found out about the Orionids Meteor Shower on the night it was supposed to happen. I haven't done any kind of astronomical photography before, but I decided to give it a go. The peak was supposed to happen around dawn, so we got up around 5AM and headed down to Assateague National Seashore. It still amazes me how many stars you can see when you are away from the comfortable lights of planned communities...a.k.a. light pollution. Saw around 15 meteors skipping over the sky, and only got a few captured with the camera (look for lines of light). I think I have taken this beautiful spectacle for granted before, but look forward to seeing it again.
Last weekend I took a trip to one of my favorite places on this planet...Bushwood, MD. I was commissioned by my good friends Jon & Jessica to do a group portrait on their beautiful family farm. The scent of drying tobacco leaves and fresh figs filled the air. I was lucky enough to try one of those figs, and I gotta tell you that Fig Newtons taste nothing like these delicious things. The star of the show, Jacob, was a bit reluctant to be in any pictures but I got a few precious ones of him. He walked into the field to fetch his favorite snack, soybeans, and then befriended a stink bug. Later that night we had a bonfire under a star filled sky as the sounds of howling dogs and barking foxes filled the air. As they say down there, "It's all good in the 'wood."
Lydia Shannon:
Oh Doug... the first picture of the little boy is the best! I love it so much!

Jacob in soybean fields ROCKS! I love the smell of harvest and crisp fall days - this photograph transports me! I'm sure he and his family will treasure it for years to come. Just beautiful.

Heather & Dwight were married in downtown Ocean City, on Sunfest weekend! The ceremony was followed by a fun reception at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club, but not before we took a few photos on a bayside boardwalk. It was obvious that Dwight completely adored his new bride! Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Bowman!
Pete:
This one's my favorite.

I was asked recently by a friend/photographer, Jen, to be a 2nd shooter for an upcoming wedding of a mutual friend, Molly. I was thrilled! This wedding was so intimate, beautiful and relaxing. A great venue, with great food, drinks, family and friends. I wish the best of luck to Molly & Scott, and thanks for letting me be a part of your special day!
I'm finding that more and more of my subjects/clients/friends are using this new thing called "Facebook". Heard of it? Thought so. Addicted? Probably. Well, I recently created a page for my photography work on FB and would love for you to become a "fan" if you haven't already done so! It's a great way to keep my followers up-to-date on my latest work when they haven't had a chance to check out my blog lately.
