Welcome

Hi, my name is Doug Phillips.  I am a professional portrait & wedding photographer located in a little slice of heaven called Delmarva, specifically the Ocean City and Salisbury, MD areas.  I tend to specialize in landscape & portrait photography, but I love anything with good light!  Beach family portraits...Maternity or baby portraits... Engagement sessions...Authentic lifestyle imagery!

Last weekend I took a trip to one of my favorite places on this planet...Bushwood, MD.  I was commissioned by my good friends Jon & Jessica to do a group portrait on their beautiful family farm.  The scent of drying tobacco leaves and fresh figs filled the air.  I was lucky enough to try one of those figs, and I gotta tell you that Fig Newtons taste nothing like these delicious things. The star of the show, Jacob, was a bit reluctant to be in any pictures but I got a few precious ones of him.  He walked into the field to fetch his favorite snack, soybeans, and then befriended a stink bug.  Later that night we had a bonfire under a star filled sky as the sounds of howling dogs and barking foxes filled the air.  As they say down there, "It's all good in the 'wood."

Jacob in soybean fields ROCKS! I love the smell of harvest and crisp fall days - this photograph transports me! I'm sure he and his family will treasure it for years to come. Just beautiful.

Last weekend I took a quick trip out to Cali to hook up with one of my best friends for a little "man-cation" as Mike called it.  Mike & Gracie, who live in Santa Monica, were great hosts as usual.  I ate some incredible food, had quite a few laughs, and took a few shots along the way.  I did a few time-lapse shots as well along the coast...from LAX (watch for the planes over the beach) to the northern tip of Malibu.  I've been getting some questions about how I select which song(s) I use for the time-lapse stuff.  Well, LA is both a beautiful and dirty town.  So, I chose a song from one of my favorite California bands, "Oil & Water" from Incubus.  I think it fits the mood well.  Enjoy!

I had to go to the "western shore" this week and I made a few stops along the way: Wye Mills | Annapolis | Oxford .   These place are so gorgeous, you must see them in person to really appreciate their beauty.  I know these little time lapse projects of mine may take a while to load, but I really suggest that you do this one in "Full Screen" (using the 4 arrows icon in the corner) to see all of the cool little things...like the Great Blue Heron in the first clip, or the guy in the row boat in Annapolis.  I almost lost my gear on this adventure. While in Oxford, a powerboat came flying by and the wake made my tripod drop a bit in the water, but I was lucky that it didn't tip over!  Enjoy.

Last Saturday was gorgeous!!  I fought may way through the sea of tank tops & cheap sunglasses (indicators of the start of the Tourist Season) to get a few shots off. I really like the lone surfer in the beginning...wish he had stuck around longer.  Hope you like it.

Took a stroll on the Ocean City boardwalk today in picture perfect weather.  Lots of brave souls showing their snow white legs today.  Check out the little kid who ran straight at me on the sea wall about 24 seconds in... he almost took out my camera.  Wish you were here.
